چکیده
Abstract Microbiological studies of the sanitary and health status psittacine birds that will be reintroduced is important in evaluating whether these animals act as carriers pathogenic agents to other humans. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) a faster more accurate method identify bacteria than conventional microbiology methods. The aim this study was evaluate psittacines housed captivity, by assessment Gram-negative from fecal microbiota through MALDI- TOF MS identification. results indicate high frequency feces (96.5%), especially Enterobacteriaceae family (88.7%). most prevalent were Escherichia coli (39.0%), Proteus vulgaris (12.2%), Klebsiella spp. (12.1%) Raoultella ornithinolytica (8.7%). hauseri, Citrobacter spp., Morganella morgannii, Providencia rettgeri, Enterobacter hermannii isolated with lower frequency. . All are potentially for parrots can cause systemic infections These findings reinforce proved rapid identification microorganism evaluation psittacines, providing relevant data assist decision-making regarding protocols wildlife centers, possible future reintroduction wild birds.

Rapid identification of gram negative bacteria from blood culture broth using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry.
An important role of the clinical microbiology laboratory is to provide rapid identification of bacteria causing bloodstream infection. Traditional identification requires the sub-culture of signaled blood culture broth with identification available only after colonies on solid agar have matured. MALDI-TOF MS is a reliable, rapid method for identification of the majority of clinically relevant ...

متن کاملDiscrepancy in MALDI-TOF MS identification of uncommon Gram-negative bacteria from lower respiratory secretions in patients with cystic fibrosis
INTRODUCTION Early identification of microbial organisms from respiratory secretions of patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) is important to guide therapeutic decisions. The objective was to compare the accuracy of matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) relative to the conventional phenotypic method in identifying common bacterial isolates, inc...
متن کاملMALDI-TOF mass spectrometry: An emerging tool for unequivocal identification of non-fermenting Gram-negative bacilli
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) has been instrumental in revolutionizing microbiological identification, especially in high-throughput laboratories. It has enabled the identification of organisms like non-fermenting Gram-negative bacilli (NFGNB), which has been a challenging task using conventional methods alone...
متن کاملDirect detection of lipid A on intact Gram-negative bacteria by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry.
The purification and characterization of Gram-negative bacterial lipid A is tedious and time-consuming. Herein we report a rapid and sensitive method to identify lipid A directly on intact bacteria without any chemical treatment or purification, using an atypical solvent system to solubilize the matrix combined with MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry.
